"This story is about a girl named Abbie who has to keep the lights in the lighthouse burning during a big storm, because Papa went to town. I didn’t like when the water and wind washed away the henhouse. I liked when Papa came back."

This young adult fiction was a delight to read! The story follows three children who are orphaned and left without a guardian during WWII. They are sent to the English countryside in an effort to limit civilian casualties in London should any bombing happen. I won't reveal the rest of the plot, except to say that it involved a kind librarian, a quaint library (I want to go!), and an emotional ending. Five stars, highly recommend.

"This book is about a boy named Noah who didn’t want to learn but he actually got over it and did learn. He learned to read and write. My favorite part was when Noah wrote a letter back to his Aunt Dora."
