This book is about a girl named Phoebe. She is a spy disguised as General Washington's housekeeper. Phoebe is searching for someone who is planning to kill George Washington. She searches for two months, and does not find anything. One day, while she is waiting for her father at the market to report to him, he is late. He finally shows up, looking concerned. He tells Phoebe that Washington is planning ot leave in a few days, and the person who is plotting against him will act before then. Phoebe is very frightened, but she is determined to save George Washington's life. She is running out of time and she must figure out who is after Washington before it is too late. One day, while she is preparing a meal, she sees Mr. Hickey put something on General Washington's plate. She doesn't know what it is. Then, while she is serving Mr. Hickey is missing. She realizes what Mr. Hickey put on General Washington's plate: poison! Quickly, she grabs it and throws it out the window. But then, here come the chickens, which peck at the peas. That did not end well. So, Phoebe saves General Washington's life. I liked this book because it was a mystery. 5 stars.
